I am a writer & filmmaker from Birmingham, UK.
I grew up an aspiring musician with an extensive background in classical music, and soon developed a passion for composing. I graduated from Coventry University in 2010 with a Music Composition degree. During university I took a screenwriting course where I discovered a deep passion for script writing.
My first script was a stage musical entitled 'The Girl With the Crystal Heart', followed by my first screenplay 'Amicus Off Colour'. After graduating, however, the writing took a back seat as I believed I was destined for a musical career. I worked for several theatrical companies, including Birmingham Music and Operatic Society and Solihull Society of Arts. Alongside these I performed in various rock and folk bands, touring gigs and festivals across Britain. But my creative itch was not yet scratched. Something felt off, and in my early twenties I realised what it was. I didn't want to be a musician. I didn't want to be a performer. I wanted to create the performance. I wanted to be a writer.
I soon branched out to explore new writing opportunities, and founded my own theatre company Free Spirit Theatre, allowing me to showcase my plays across the Midlands. I started entering my scripts into festivals and competitions, which were well recieved. I have won many national competitions, had plays performed in West End London, and had plays published.
From filming and editing my theatre shows, I discovered a love for filmmaking, and soon after created my first film 'You Are Not Alone'. Over the years I have gained several awards and nominations for my films, which I hope to continue for many years to come. I have also challenged myself with novel writing, creating several graphic novels and books.
My love for music, however, hasn't completely vanished. I have composed various soundtracks for my films, along with another musical, which is currently in the making.
